Chambray Week!—My Lander Pants

Welcome to Chambray Week on the Cali & Co blog!  I’m thrilled to be kicking off the week, particularly because I am really happy with how my project turned out!

Most chambray is pretty lightweight, which makes it great for tops and dresses, but not the best for pants.  So when I saw that Ron had stocked this bottomweight chambray in the perfect shade of chambray blue, I snapped up a couple of yards!

This chambray is the perfect weight for a pair of lightweight summer pants.  It’s certainly not going to keep out any chilly winter winds, but will be ideal for the summer heat.

My Lander Pants

I immediately knew I wanted to make a pair of Lander Pants by True Bias.  This chambray lends itself really well to a wide leg style, and I love the 70s vibe of the Landers with its high rise and patch pockets.

I used the Lander zip fly expansion pack since button flies aren’t really my jam, and the fabric had plenty of heft to support the hardware.

It was refreshing making pants out of a bottomweight chambray after working with heavier denims for a while.  The chambray presses so nicely, and I got such crisp corners on my pockets.  I love me some denim, but sometimes I feel like I have to wrestle it into submission, while this fabric went along so nicely.

Ron has stocked up on chambrays and a couple of them would work for pants.  So if this blue isn’t for you, check out the other chambrays in the shop.  This stretch gray chambray would work well, and maybe even this lavender midweight chambray.  If you want to make chambray pants, get your yardage now!  I know first hand how hard it can be to find chambray heavy enough for pants, so don’t let it pass you by.

My Gemma Tank

And I couldn’t leave my top to chance!  I know we’re talking about chambray this week, but I had to throw out a shout to this gorgeous rayon challis that I used for a Gemma Tank to pair with my chambray Landers.

I think this particular color way may be sold out, which makes me incredibly sad because it is my ideal color.  But the store is full of other gorgeous rayons that would be equally perfect for a woven tank like the Gemma.

I know there’s been a lot of talk about rayon on this blog previously, and our collective love for it is well-documented 🙂  I do love a good rayon tank for the summer.  They look great for the office, and are comfy enough to wear around the house on weekends too!

Stay Tuned for More Chambray!

There’s a great line up in store for the rest of chambray week!  I’m I awe of the amazing projects my fellow Cali & Co bloggers have put together!

And be sure to spend some time perusing the great chambray selection at Cali Fabrics.  Ron has collected some really nice options.  I may have to grab a few more myself!
