Stripes for the whole family

The modal jersey stripe fabric excels above all other stripe fabric, or so you might think if you saw my family!  But it’s true that this fabric is one of the best quality fabrics we’ve ever found, sewn with, and worn.  Let me show you how I used this fabric for the whole family!

For myself, I sewed a t-shirt using the navy on off-white horizontal pencil stripe stretch modal jersey.  For the pattern, I used the Union Street Tee by Hey June Patterns.  (affiliate link)  This shirt is so comfortable, I wear it at least once a week.  It’s been washed and worn many times and has not pilled or gotten worn out.  You can see how I turned the fabric in the opposite direction for the neckband to add a little interest.

You might remember from last year, I sewed this Union Street Tee for my oldest daughter using the black on off-white horizontal pencil stripe stretch modal jersey fabric.  In that post, I compare modal to two other fabrics, if you’re interested.  These two shirts shown above were sewed last  year.  And then CaliFabrics got in a whole bunch more modal pencil stripe fabric in!

Next I grabbed some of the taupe on off-white pencil stripe stretch modal jersey fabric for an idea I had tucked away in the back of my mind for quite some time!  It involved opposite stripe patterns, compare the sleeves and neckband to the rest of the dress in the photo above.  You can see how it worked out, and her sister’s matching-but-not-too-matching dress in my blog post over at Skirt Fixation.  For this dress, I used Janie Dress pattern.

Up next is the charcoal and white pencil stripe stretch modal jersey knit fabric.  I made a special shirt for my son (details here) and a stripe t-shirt for my husband.  These both get worn all the time too!

Up next is the mustard on off-white pencil stripe stretch modal jersey knit fabric that I got to make myself another tee.  However, as you can see, this is not me, and somehow this little doll got both a tutu skirt and a Kitty tee from that luscious fabric.  (Tutorial for the cat face t-shirt here on the Skirt Fixation blog.)  (Oh, and her shirt and skirt in these photos are made from Wine double brushed poly spandex knit fabric!

“Are there any pencil stripe stretch modal jersey knit colors you didn’t use?” you might be asking?  Why yes!  There are:

light grey heather,

ivory and tan,

and deep red on off-white!

And you might also be asking yourself, “Does anyone love this fabric as much as you?”  Well, it just so happens that Tami and I both have VERY good taste…
