Sunday Uniform

I don’t know about you, but over the past couple of years, I’ve developed a bit of a “Sunday Uniform.”  In the summer, it’s usually a sun dress (as it is most other days).  In the fall and winter, it switches to leggings and some sort of cozy top.

I’ve spent the last week or so fighting off the stomach flu and a sinus infection, so I just couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the house to take photos (or putting mascara on for that matter).  But, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show off something perfectly comfy for an afternoon on the couch.

When I saw the toaster sweater, I had a feeling that it would fit the bill for the chilly Chicago falls and winters.   As soon as I got this gorgeous french terry in the mail, I knew they would be a match made in heaven.

I sewed this up in a size M, and truth be told, it’s a little more oversized and comfy than I had anticipated.  I’m also not totally sold on the neckline of this version.  I think next time I would size down to a small, and try the other neck option.  You can see how much extra fabric I have, and how far off from my actual shoulders the shoulder seams are.

I will likely wear the life out of this thing, though, as the fabric is just too good.  The insides are silky soft, and it’s got awesome 4-way stretch.  The color is also right up my alley.  It does have a tendency to wrinkle, though, so if that’s the sort of thing that bugs you, I’d recommend it for a more fitted make.  The stretch means it would also be perfect for a cozy dress or a closer-fitting top.
