The Perfect Summer Top
Chambray week has been amazing, am I right?! So much inspiration to get you back to your machines and ready for spring. Chambray is such a versatile fabric and this week has proven that! Make sure you head here to see all the gorgeous options in the shop.
I’m crushing hard on the Robert Kaufman Greenwich Chambrays in the shop right now. So many vibrant, beautiful colors and the weight and drape is just perfect for so many projects. I used a brilliant blue shade (currently sold out) for this dress for my daughter and immediately needed something for myself from these fabrics.
I picked up the Meadow color and was thrilled when it arrived. I have a thing for all things teal, turquoise, blue-green- any and every shade makes me happy! This particular color is so bright and cheerful without being too over the top. I sewed up a Willamette Shirt from Hey June Handmade and this fabric was just meant for it. I think this pattern would look great in any of the lightweight chambrays in the shop but the feel of the Greenwich line is just perfect for it. There are three different views and I picked view A, an easy-to-wear popover top with a contemporary feel.
I love sewing with chambray. It presses so nicely and doesn’t shift a lot like some wovens can. It’s easy to sew and wears so well too! This pattern features super clean finishes like french seams and a fully enclosed yoke so it looks as pretty on the inside as it does on the outside. After lots of time consuming projects, this top was such a treat to sew. Great fabric and the perfect pattern made for a fun afternoon in my sewing space.
I’m eyeing all the other pretty colors in the shop now. The bold Magenta would make a great statement blouse and this Hunter Green is such a classic shade. I hope you’ve enjoyed Chambray Week as much as I have and you better have some of these pretties headed your way soon!
