Work-Appropriate Secret Pajamas!: One dress, Three ways

Despite loving the style of sheath dresses, I tend to wear them only on business formal days because they’re so uncomfortable. Enter the Lodo dress – comfortable enough to wear any time of the day or night.
The Lodo is a sheath dress made from a stable knit. It features subtle sleeves, a v-neck, and two length options. The best thing about this dress – other than its ease of wear-  is the ease of construction. There are 3 main pieces + 4 woven facing pieces. No darts or otherwise complicated bits. The only complication might be figuring out which view to make.

This is made out of  Navy Blue 4-way Stretch Heavy Ponte De Roma Navy Blue 4-way Stretch Heavy Ponte De Roma   and some chambray scraps from my Alex shirt dress last fall. I love that the Lodo has woven facings – a great way to add small pops of color inside and to use up scraps.

For reference, my version is 7 inches shorter than view A, but  is a few inches longer than view B. I ended up removing the back slit, since it was going to be FAR too high once I took out the 7 inches.
The images on the True Bias website show a pretty casual summer dress but I’d like to show you some ways to wear it to work in the fall and  winter.

Here I’ve styled the Lodo with a leather jacket and leather mules. I think this would be perfect for a night out with friends or casual Friday at the office.

Finally, I swapped the leather jacket for a cozy cardigan and the mules for demure heels. This look would be at home in the board room, but feels comfy enough for curling up on the couch — win!

  1. I love navy knit dresses! Yours is beautiful – ticks all the boxes – great fit, V neckline and perfect length. I just made myself a navy knit dress of the Ebony by Closet Case files and love it 🙂
