Hi, I’m Lara!

I have spent any spare moment sewing as I find such joy in the ability to make clothes that suit my style and needs! You will always find me gravitating towards feminine styles with floral prints and beautiful solids.

Hi everyone, I’m Lara! I am the blogger behind Handmade by Lara Liz. I stumbled upon sewing in the summer of 2016. Since then, I’ve been blow away by the community that exists in the sewing world and started Handmade by Lara Liz in November of 2016. Outside of sewing, I am a certified public accountant and live in Arlington, Virginia with my husband (and resident blog photographer) Nathan.

I am rather new to the crafting world. When I was in elementary school and middle school, I was the student that avoided art class at all cost! Much to my surprise, after I got married in 2015, I decided to take up knitting. After knitting for about a year, I decided to give sewing a try and I have never looked back.

Since picking up sewing, I have spent any spare moment sewing as I find such joy in the ability to make clothes that suit my style and needs! You will always find me gravitating towards feminine styles with floral prints and beautiful solids.

I am so excited to be joining the Cali Fabrics team and sharing my sewing projects with you!

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing your sewing and the fabric you use from Cali & Co, Lara! I recently moved from Alexandria, VA to the San Francisco Bay Area and now get to shop at the Fabric Outlet regularly (it is an amazing store!). I love your anorak coat! Did you make it? It is really nice!

    1. How fun! I love Alexandria – I go there almost every weekend…so beautiful I did make my coat – It’s the Kelly Anorak from Closet Case Patterns. I shared it on my blog earlier this summer. Thanks for stopping by today and can’t wait to share more!

  2. Sewing does not fall into the “crafting” genre. It sits out there all by itself. I am rather amazed at the job you are able to do after such a short time. Most of us have been sewing for years.
