How about some menswear?
My husband got a new tattoo this year, so of course I had to make him a shirt to show it off!
I knew I wanted this Cali Fabrics Black and White Checkerboard Knit as soon as I saw it. It’s a perfect weight for t-shirt – one of the things I love about Cali is that Ron’s fabric descriptions are so reliable! He says it’s light mid-weight, and that exactly right.
For the pattern, I used the Thread Theory Sayward Raglan, which I pattern tested and blogged about on the Thread Theory blog last year. Jamie likes the neckline and proportions, and I like how fast it is to sew! (The other clothes I make him are hoodies and pants, and those are much more work!)
Curious about the tattoos? Both that you can see on his forearms are related to his true nerd love, the Fantastic Four! (Comics, not movies, because it’s never translated well to screen!) The checkerboard design comes from Alex Power’s Future Foundation suit, and the 3 hexagons is the logo for Mr. Fantastic. I’ve got a matching tattoo of the Invisible Woman, aka. Mrs. Fantastic!
What can I say? The family that nerds together, stays together! He supports my sewing, and I support his collecting!

You are right there is little in +XL range for men. I am going to have to try this pattern. I’ve just been working on grading a raglan jacket whose largest size is size smaller than my husband’s. In your tshirt pattern, however, he is 3XL in height, chest & waist, but will need grading down to M-L hip, and up to 5XL shoulder (front and back) and neck. What I’ve learnt fitting my own short and busty shape is helpful but doesn’t always apply straight forwardly to men’s shape and there are few men fitting guides
