How to fake the perfect neck binding.

Hello lovelies!!

Truth be told, I’ve avoided sewing knits because I’m not a very big fan of knit binding. I’m such a perfectionist, and because I don’t have a coverstitch machine (yet) it bothers me when my seams and stitches are not  symmetrical, that is, until I figured out how to fake it! It really was the most exciting thing I’ve stumbled upon. A few months ago, I sewed up a knit dress for my daughter, the weather was really cool and so I decided to line the bodice for additional warmth. I loved how neat that came out, but I also loved that I didn’t need to bind the neck.

Halfway through hemming my sleeves with a twin needle, I had a light bulb moment –  I could topstitch the neckline with my twin needle! VOILA!!! PERFECT LOOKING NECKLINE!

So now, I pretty much line all my knit bodices and topstitch the neckline! haha!

For this blog post I sewed up the Calabria Dress by Lil Luxe Collections using this absolutely delicious  Purple and Mustard Flowers on Ivory Stretch Jersey Knit. This knit is super soft and has the most beautiful drape.

The sleeves are my favorite thing about this pattern! Love the gathers!
